AbstractThe plastic pipes used for the power plants are supposed to have 80 years lifespan without replacement. The standard used for assessing this lifetime focuses on the pristine material. Thus, the effects of the ageing on the material is not taken into consideration. This thesis work falls within the framework of the environmentally stress cracking (by creep). The chemo-mechanical coupling requires, first, a fine characterization of the gradient of chemical ageing of the sample then a dedicated experimental programme so as to better assess its consequences on the creep response of the material, as well as on its creep failure characteristics (Stress vs. time to failure curve, master curves).
ProfileEngineer and / or Master of Science - Good level of general and scientific culture. Good level of knowledge of French (B2 level in french is required) and English. (B2 level in english is required) Good analytical, synthesis, innovation and communication skills. Qualities of adaptability and creativity. Teaching skills. Motivation for research activity. Coherent professional project.

Prerequisite (specific skills for this thesis): Physical chemistry of aging of polymeric materials; deformation, damage and failure mechanisms of thermoplastics
