Abstract | This PhD project is a part of “MESSIAH” industrial chair funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR). The chair aims at methodology development to track in service properties evolution of structures used for future hydrogen transport. The PhD work will be carried out in collaboration with RICE-GRTgaz which actually manages public pipeline network for high pressure gaz transport of the total length of more than 32000 km. The main objective of the PhD project is to develop the experimental methodology for mechanical characterization of pipeline weld joints using miniature samples machined directly from weld joints. The microstructure of different zones in weld joint will be characterized using optical and electron microscopy and EBSD. Mechanical characterization will require different sample types to adjust behaviour law for different weld zones and to integrate it to a specific database which further will be used for finite element analysis. To perform the mechanical tests in conditions close to service ones of hydrogen transport, a special experimental set-up will be developed for miniature samples. |
