AbstractTransport is currently one of the largest consumers of fossil fuels in Europe and responsible for almost 25% of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Unlike other sectors, GHG emissions from transportation increased until 2007 and remain above 1990 levels. In addition, transportation is the major cause of air pollution in cities due to particulate and nitrogen oxide emissions, and also contributes to impacts on other environmental categories. More than 70% of the emissions from transport are due to road transport. Electric vehicle development is seen as an alternative to reduce fossil fuel consumption and associated pollutant emissions by minimizing infrastructure costs compared to other options (hydrogen, compressed natural gas).
This work aims to establish an approach for the overall assessment of the sustainability of electric vehicle integration in mobility scenarios, taking into account the environmental, societal and economic dimensions.
The sustainability analysis should identify the most sensitive or problematic stages of the life cycle for each dimension. A series of mobility scenarios will be proposed to compare their performance to identify the best strategy in terms of overall sustainability compared to the current situation. In the case of different responses depending on the dimension considered, the method should include an approach for weighting according to the importance of the criteria or at least one protocol for establishing priority indicators.

Knowledge and skills in LCA. Fluency in scientific programming. Experience in techno-economic analysis. Knowledge of the automotive industry and in particular the electric vehicle production line would be an asset for this thesis work.
