Abstract The energy transition in France changes the perception of energies, deeply influencing the place of gas in the energy mix. GRDF offers a balanced and complementary view of energy networks. Upstream, the gas network evolves towards biomethane and provides a green energy for heat, electricity and mobility, as well as power to gas as a storage base. Downstream, innovative gas products (fuel cells, micro-cogeneration, hybrid systems) bridge bridges between electricity and heat requirements and provide flexible and flexible support to the electricity grid. Finally, the smart gas grid becomes the conductor of a modern and optimized network.

The complementarity of energy networks seems obvious but is too little implemented today. Energy inputs are seen in a silo and systematic way, taking too little account of local opportunities and constraints, by favoring too little the synergies between energy vectors.
