Context

The MINES ParisTech Advanced Master's Degree "Gas Engineering and Management" (GAZ) is a high-level up-to-date Post-Master educational programme in the energy field.
It is certified by the French Conference des Grandes Ecoles (C.G.E.).
It is taught in French.

Objectives

The Advanced Master's Degree in Gas Engineering and Management aims to ensure the training of high level engineers. The sectors involved are transport, storage, distribution, trading and the uses of gas fuel.
The courses are organized partly around a series of modular sessions proposed by CFAFG Competences et Formations. The teaching staff comprises numerous specialists from the French gas industries, and academic staff from MINES ParisTech and other practicing engineers associated with Association Franaise du Gaz AFG.

Content

6 months of theoretical Courses:
Each student has to choose the various modules and to organize his own programme collecting European at least 45 Credits Transfer System (ECTS).

- Basic information on gas distribution
- Design, construction and management of gas distribution networks
- Design, construction and management of gas transport networks
- Gas uses in houses and commercial buildings
- Quality of gas
- Liquefied natural gas (LNG)
- Underground natural gas storage
- Liquefied petroleum gases (LPG)
- Gas techniques in development

- Economy and marketing courses:
- The gas industry and the environment
- International organization of the gas industry
- Gas economics
- Legal aspects in tranport, storage and distribution of gas
- Confidentiality, negociation in gas sector, energy markets, trading
- Project finance in gas industry
- Management, marketing

- Others:
- Gas seminar in a foreign country
- Athens weeks within ParisTech

4-6 months of professional mission:
The professional mission is a specific study performed in a company. It gives 30 ECTS. The student will be supervised by a professor and a representative from the company. The mission will be closed with a professional thesis and an oral defense.
