Scientific exchanges between Australian Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) and O.I.E. - MINES ParisTech

Benoît Gschwind, researcher at Centre for Observation, Impacts, Energy (O.I.E.) – MINES ParisTech, is a visiting scientist at Bureau of Meteorology (BOM), in Melbourne, VIC, Australia. His mission spans from 1st August to 15th December 2014.

His goals are : 

1) to validate the advanced McClear model predicting the solar irradiance received at ground level under clear skies developed by O.I.E. - MINES ParisTech, 

2) to transfer the model and knowledge to BOM.

Twentieth European Conference on Fracture ECF 20 30/6/14 4/7/14 in Trondheim

Assaad Zoughaib, Centre for Energy efficiency of Systems (MINES ParisTech - CES) will participate to AHRI Low-GWP Alternative Refrigerants Evaluation Program from 16 to 17 January 2014 in New York.

In response to environmental concerns raised by the use of high global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants, the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) is launching an industry-wide cooperative research program to identify and evaluate promising alternative refrigerants for major product categories."

He joined the FRG research group http://www.stanford.edu/group/frg/ at the Aeronautics and Astronautics department http://aa.stanford.edu/
The group develops mathematical models, advanced computational algorithms, and high-performance software for the design and analysis of complex systems in aerospace, marine, mechanical, and naval engineering.  Dr. Hachem will be working in this group on advanced methods for the simulation of Fluid-Structure Interactions problems.
